FAQs

I'm sure you've already considered the importance of having your birth story recorded in visual form by a professional, something to look back on, something to show your child when they get older. Have you thought about how it will allow for you and your partner to focus more on your labor and on each other? Have you thought about how it can allow you to look back on your experience for you to process things you might forget or that happened so quickly they were a blur? Have you thought about the fact that a birth photographer is experienced in this specific space and knows how to navigate a hospital or home birth setting? That they have worked with doctors and midwives and doulas? Or even that they can offer you more support?

A few reasons.
1) We are on call for at least a month for each client which means we can only take a few clients every month.
2) We are trained and experienced to photograph in low light, medical settings and sensitive material. We are able to navigate birth spaces professionally and appropriately.
3) When we are on call, we are available 24 hours a day 7 days a week rain or shine.
4) We might be working at your birth for three hours or thirty hours and we won't know in advance.

I do offer several! Some internal, some external. Please reach out so we can discuss what works best for you!

It depends! If you have your registry set up on Amazon, I cannot list my services there. If you have a registry set up with Be Her Village, I have listings on there that can be added. I also have a link that I can provide after you have booked with me to an online storefront. This storefront offers vouchers from $25 to covering the full cost of my services that you can provide to friends and family. This will go directly to covering your final cost.

I, like any professional birth photographer, always have a backup photographer. I have a few local birth photographers with similar styles who I know personally and trust. In the very rare occasion this might happen (I have never had to use a backup so far) I would have one of them come in my stead. I would then edit and deliver the gallery to you.

This is why we get to know each other beforehand and COMMUNICATE! I love getting coffee or video chatting a few times throughout a clients pregnancy to get to know each other. This helps with communication when it's go time. You and/or your partner will text or call me like you would your parents or doctor or other members of your birth team. The more I know, the more prepared I can be!

Then I will get there as fast as I can. This means photos for a few hours after the birth, a Fresh 48, Motherhood or Family session to make up for the lack of labor photos, and lots of creative storytelling to make sure your speedy delivery is part of what is memorialized for you.

If you want me to be! Doesn't bother me at all. I've seen (and heard and smelled and dodged) it all before, trust me. If you want me to stay up by your head and just capture the drama from up there, I am more than happy to! Many parents choose this and I am still more than able to tell their story.
